TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to promoting peace in Palestine, emphasizing that a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian state is the only path to sustainable peace.
The President made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein at Basman Palace in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
"When we were invited to join the the Board of Peace and support President Trump's 20-point plan, it was all with the view and effort to do everything we can to achieve a lasting solution," Prabowo said, according to an official statement from the Presidential Secretariat.
Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s active involvement in the Board of Peace, which was initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump. Indonesia officially joined the board on Thursday, January 22, 2026, when Prabowo signed its charter during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Less than a month later, Prabowo attended the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington, D.C., alongside President Trump, U.S. Vice President James “JD” Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and White House senior advisor Jared Kushner.
Representatives from Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Pakistan, Paraguay, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Egypt were also present, along with delegations from Belarus, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, and Israel.
At the high-level conference, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s readiness to deploy troops to the Gaza Strip under the Board of Peace's mission. Indonesia has been appointed deputy commander of the peacekeeping forces.
Prabowo also noted that conditions in Gaza, which borders Egypt and Israel, have improved compared to previous years. The territory, previously under heavy Israeli military action, now receives a more stable flow of aid.
"I think the flow of food aid, the needs of the people in Gaza, is at its highest in several years. So, there is enough food, and other needs flow abundantly," he said in Washington D.C. on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
The President emphasized Indonesia’s determination to achieve success through the PBoard of Peace for the Palestinian people.
"Of course, we are committed; earlier, some Muslim countries reaffirmed our commitment to truly achieve lasting peace," Prabowo said.
