TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto inaugurates the members of the National Energy Council for the 2026-2030 period. The members consist of relevant ministers, academicians, and industry actors.
The inauguration takes place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. President Prabowo, who chairs the National Energy Council, leads the oath-taking ceremony.
"In the name of Allah, I swear that I will be faithful to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and will execute the laws with the utmost integrity for the sake of my devotion to the nation and state," said Prabowo, followed by the members of the National Energy Council during the oath-taking ceremony.
The inauguration of the National Energy Council members is based on Presidential Decree Number 134P of 2026 concerning the Appointment of National Energy Council Members from Stakeholder Groups and Presidential Decree Number 6P of 2026 concerning the Appointment of National Energy Council Members from the Government.
During today's inauguration, Prabowo officially appoints the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, as the executive chairperson of the National Energy Council.
Seven other ministers are also appointed by Prabowo as members of the council.
Meanwhile, eight members from stakeholder groups are inaugurated as council members today, after passing their fit and proper test at the House of Representatives (DPR) in November 2025.

The National Energy Council is an independent and permanent state institution tasked with assisting the president to draft national energy policies. The council was established through Law Number 30 of 2007 concerning Energy.
The council is chaired by the president, with the vice president as deputy chair. Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources serves as the executive chairperson of the National Energy Council.
