TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chairperson of the PSSI, Erick Thohir, stated that the Indonesian national team coach, Patrick Kluivert, is satisfied with the new names called up for the two final matches of the 2026 World Cup qualification round three Group C against China on Thursday, June 5, and Japan on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
Out of the 30 national team players, Patrick Kluivert has called up one new player, Beckham Putra. He also called up familiar names such as Stefano Lilipaly, Yakob Sayuri, Yance Sayuri, Asnawi Mangkualam, and Reza Arya. These five names did not receive a call-up in the first period of 'Garuda Calling' back in March.
Beckham, Lilipaly, Yakob, Yance, Asnawi, and Reza were directly assessed by Kluivert after they joined the 28 players participating in the training camp session in Bali since last Monday.
"Very satisfying," Erick reiterated Kluivert's response to journalists during the national team training session at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Monday.
Erick mentioned that the presence of these players signals that there is no guarantee of a place in the Garuda team, even for regular players. "That's what we hope for, competition among players. There's no safe zone and so on," he said.
Erick is also pleased to see the depth of the Garuda squad, which he believes has both core and substitute players of equal caliber.
This makes Kluivert less worried if he loses players in a match.
Sandy Walsh and Eliano Reinjders are confirmed to be absent, but Kluivert still has at least three players to fill the right-back position, namely Kevin Diks, Asnawi Mangkualam, and Yakob Sayuri.
In the goalkeeper position, Emil Audero is ready to replace Maarten Paes, who is absent against China due to accumulated yellow cards.
Marselino Ferdinan and Ragnar Oratmangoen also cannot take part in the match against China, but Kluivert still has Yakob, Beckham, Stefano Lilipaly, and Egy Maulana Vikry.
"We believe that our national team now has the strength of two full teams, as I always say. In the past, if there were 1-2 injuries, we would have been in a fix," said Erick. "Now, with two goalkeepers, and also with Nadeo, and Reza Arya, I think this is a fairly balanced composition. The same goes for the right-back, left-back, and center-back."
