TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Presidential Palace has confirmed that there will be no cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said that the agenda at the Palace today is only the inauguration of the National Energy Council (DEN) members.
According to Prasetyo, no ministers or deputy ministers will be inaugurated today. "Not yet," said the Gerindra Party politician as he was about to attend the inauguration of DEN members at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
Prasetyo stated that, until today, President Prabowo Subianto had not discussed the plan for a cabinet reshuffle. Prasetyo added that Prabowo will not appoint a replacement for Thomas Djiwandono as deputy finance minister. Djiwandono left his position to become the deputy governor of Bank Indonesia.
Prasetyo mentioned that the inauguration of Thomas's replacement has not been scheduled. This replacement is also Prabowo's nephew. He claimed that Prabowo doesn't have a name picked out for the new deputy finance minister yet, either. "Whenever it's decided by the President that the vacant position must be filled, we will announce it at the right time," Prasetyo stated.
He mentioned that Prabowo will still conduct a study to find a replacement for the vacant deputy minister position. Prasetyo said that Prabowo will also consult with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa on the matter.
Prasetyo also dismissed the rumors of Gerindra Party politician Budisatrio Djiwandono becoming a minister in Prabowo's government cabinet. Budisatrio, who is also the President's nephew, was previously rumored to join the Red and White Cabinet.
The issue of Budisatrio joining the Red and White Cabinet originated from the statement of the Chair of the House of Commission I (DPR), Utut Adianto, during a working meeting with the Ministry of Defence and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) on January 26. At that time, Utut hinted that Budisatrio would soon be joining the cabinet.
"If the person sitting to my right, I guess that he will soon be in the executive," said the PDIP politician in that meeting. Utut sat next to Budisatrio in that meeting.
Budisatrio has denied the rumor. "My duty is still the same in the House of Commission I," said Budi to the media in the DPR complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
On a separate occasion, Utut said that his statement during the meeting was just a joke. He admitted that he was unaware of the details surrounding Prabowo's cabinet reshuffle. "As for (Budisatrio), that was just a joke. The friends in Gerindra know about it," he said on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Today, President Prabowo will inaugurate the members of the National Energy Council. The inauguration of the members of the institution that formulates national energy policies is scheduled to take place at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
The inauguration of the DEN members is scheduled for 3.00 PM local time. Until midday today, several prospective members who will attend the inauguration have arrived at the Presidential Palace.
Unggul Priyanto, one of the prospective DEN members, confirmed that he will be inaugurated in the afternoon. "More or less," said Unggul when arriving at the Presidential Palace.
Unggul said he only received information about the inauguration at the Presidential Palace a few hours earlier. He received the invitation at around 10.00 AM on Wednesday. "I was suddenly contacted," said Unggul.
Aside from Unggul, several prospective DEN members have also arrived at the Palace. Among them are Johni Jonatan Numberi and Mohamad Fadhil Hasan.
The members of DEN who will be inaugurated today will serve for a period of four years. They will hold the position as DEN members until 2030.
Prospective members previously underwent a fit-and-proper test at the House of Representatives. (DPR). The procedure was completed in November 2025.
In addition to the members who underwent the fit-and-proper test at the DPR, Prabowo will also inaugurate several ministers as DEN members. These include the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who will become the daily chairperson of DEN, as well as Finance Minister Purbaya and Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto as members.
