TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Cabinet Secretary, disclosed the outcomes of the five-hour meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which occurred in Moscow, Russia, on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Teddy stated that the meeting between Prabowo and Putin at the Kremlin began with a two-hour bilateral meeting and was followed by a three-hour one-on-one meeting. The meeting at the Kremlin was mentioned as part of efforts to strengthen the strategic cooperation between the two countries amidst the continuously evolving global dynamics.

According to Teddy, the meeting between Prabowo and Putin resulted in several strategic cooperation points, especially in the energy and mineral resources sector, which are the long-term priorities of both countries.

"Several points of agreement were established, including long-term cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sector, including energy resilience in oil and gas, as well as downstream processing," Teddy stated in his remarks quoted on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

In addition to the energy sector, Teddy mentioned that both countries affirmed their commitment to continue and expand cooperation in various other sectors that are considered to have a direct impact on national development.

"The continuity of several cooperation in the fields of education, research technology, agriculture, and investment in various sectors, especially in the development of industries in Indonesia," said Teddy.

Furthermore, according to Teddy, Russia holds a strategic position in global affairs, making the partnership between Indonesia and Russia increasingly relevant. "We are aware that Russia holds a very strategic position in the global arena, aside from being one of the UN Security Council veto-holding countries and a founding member of BRICS," Teddy expressed.

Teddy mentioned that Russia is also a major world power with vast natural resources. Therefore, Russia can become an important partner for Indonesia in driving long-term development.

President Prabowo met with President Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow on Monday local time. During the meeting, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to Putin for assisting Indonesia in joining the BRICS group. Prabowo considered Russia's support in Indonesia's accession to BRICS as an important step in strengthening Indonesia's position on the global stage.

BRICS is a major group of developing countries that functions as a forum for economic, political, and security cooperation. Initially, BRICS included Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. However, its membership expanded to include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.

For Prabowo, Russia has also provided support for various critical needs of Indonesia in several strategic areas. "In several crucial aspects for Indonesia, President Putin has provided support and assistance to Indonesia," Prabowo stated to Putin, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's live YouTube broadcast.

Furthermore, Prabowo mentioned that his visit to Moscow was also for consultations regarding the rapidly changing global geopolitical situation. "I also came for consultations because the world's geopolitical situation is experiencing rapid development and change," Prabowo expressed.
