TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesia's Malang Resort Police have increased patrols and security in 183 tourist destinations during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays as part of Operation Lilin Semeru 2025.

This step was taken in response to the increasing flow of visitors during Christmas and New Year holidays in the Malang Regency. The patrols are focused on popular tourist destinations expected to experience a surge in the number of visitors, ranging from natural attractions, beaches, to mountains.

"During Operation Lilin, the Malang Resort Police increased patrols in places frequented by the public to prevent disturbances to public order and security, and to ensure that tourism activities proceed safely and comfortably," said Head of Public Relations Section of the Malang Resort Police, Adjunct Commissioner Bambang Subinanjar, as quoted from a written statement on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Bambang stated that the patrols include monitoring visitor traffic, vehicles, and activities around tourist destinations. "Officers are also actively providing instructions to tourists to comply with safety regulations, especially in natural tourist locations with potential risks,"he said.

Based on data from the Malang Resort Police, Malang Regency has 183 tourist destinations that are potentially experiencing increased public activities during the year-end holidays. According to Bambang, this condition is a serious concern for the police in organizing patrol patterns and security.

In addition to patrolling tourist areas, the Malang Resort Police have prepared personnel at security and service posts for Operation Lilin, which are distributed in several strategic locations. These efforts are made to anticipate emergency situations.

Bambang also urged the public to immediately report to the nearest officers or contact the emergency hotline 110 if they need police assistance.
