TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) reported a rise in public interest for the Whoosh high-speed train during the Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru). On Tuesday, December 24, 2025, the number of passengers reached 24,439.
KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa stated that passenger volume has averaged over 21,000 per day since last weekend. Data shows that the number of travelers continues to climb today, December 25, 2025.
"KCIC predicts today's passenger numbers could exceed 24,000 because many passengers are still departing to enjoy the Christmas and New Year holiday," Eva said in an official statement on Thursday, December 25, 2025.
As of Thursday morning, approximately 16,000 tickets had already been sold. This figure is expected to grow until the final departure at 9:25 p.m. Train occupancy at Halim Station reached over 90 percent from morning to afternoon, while other schedules remain around 70 percent full.
Eva advised prospective passengers to buy tickets online early. This ensures they secure seats for their preferred times, especially during the busy holiday season.
Earlier, Eva noted that the surge in Whoosh passengers should continue through the New Year period on January 1, 2026. This holiday trend is driving a significant increase in travel between Jakarta and Bandung.
