TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam recorded a robust performance within the international aviation sector throughout 2025. This growth aligns with rising public mobility and the broader recovery of the air transportation industry, bolstered by the launch of several direct international routes to and from Batam.
The President Director of PT Hang Nadim International Airport (BIB), Annang Setia Budhi, stated that the expansion was driven by the opening of strategic international routes, including Batam-Incheon, Batam-Kuala Lumpur, and Batam-Jeddah. The introduction of these new pathways has had a significant impact on the surge in passenger volume and aircraft movement.
"The increase in international flights is a positive signal for investment and the tourism climate in Batam City. Batam's strategic location as an international gateway is further strengthened by the increasing cross-border connectivity," Annang remarked on Monday, January 26, 2025.
Throughout 2025, the number of international passengers at Hang Nadim Airport reached 139,309, marking a 64 percent increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, international aircraft movements totaled 1,520 flights, representing an annual growth of 17 percent.
This growth, according to Annang, is the result of various initiatives to enhance airport services, strengthen partnerships with airlines, and secure government support for reopening and expanding international flight paths.
Additionally, Batam's status as an industrial hub, a free trade zone, and a premier tourist destination has heightened interest among business travelers and foreign tourists visiting the region.
Annang added that overall, throughout 2025, Hang Nadim International Airport recorded a total passenger movement of 3,898,060 people, with total aircraft movements reaching 30,149 flights across both domestic and international sectors.
"In the future, PT Hang Nadim International Airport is committed to continuously improving the quality of services, passenger safety, and comfort. Optimizing infrastructure, digitalizing services, and developing new routes are part of the company's strategy in facing the potential growth of air traffic in the coming years," said Annang.
