TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Indonesian National Police (Polri) targets to build one hundred water wells in Aceh Tamiang Regency. Polri Deputy Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo stated that the construction of hundreds of water wells is aimed to meet the need for clean water after the flooding and landslides in the area.

Dedi mentioned that up to now, 83 water wells have been operating in the region. "Clean water is very important, especially for the residents' homes, worship facilities, refugee shelters, and educational facilities," he said, as quoted from a press release on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

In addition to building water wells, the police will also collaborate with other relevant agencies in repairing roads and building bridges damaged by the disaster. According to Dedi, the infrastructure development is an urgent need that must be fulfilled immediately.

"We will report this to the Police Chief, and whatever we can execute directly, we will immediately carry out without waiting," he said.

Dedi mentioned that the police will gather information on the needs for school supplies for students, including uniforms. The needs will later be supplied from Jakarta and adjusted to the on-site requirements.

Dedi also provided logistical assistance in the form of groceries transported by four trucks. The aid is intended not only for the affected communities and refugees but also for the personnel on duty in the field. The aim is to ensure a balanced disaster response.

In the disaster response mission, Dedi stated that the police have deployed 100 personnel to the Aceh Tamiang region. He mentioned that an additional 200 personnel will also be deployed in the near future. These personnel will be deployed to villages and districts according to the on-site requirements.

To support their operations, the police have also prepared operational vehicles. So far, the police have 20 operational vehicles with two new additional vehicles. He targets to deploy 100 operational vehicles to optimize disaster response in Aceh Tamiang since the community will soon observe the Ramadan fasting month in a few months.
