TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has received an additional budget of Rp26.24 trillion for the upcoming year. Consequently, the ministry's budget for 2026 is set at Rp40 trillion.
"The budget ceiling of the Ministry of Agriculture is set at Rp40 trillion, with details of employee expenditure at Rp6.9 trillion, operational expenditure at Rp1.3 trillion, and non-operational at Rp31.72 trillion," said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman during a meeting with the House of Commission IV at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Specifically, the budget ceiling will be used for several level I allocations. The budget allocation for the General Secretariat amounts to Rp3.76 trillion, General Inspectorate Rp129.71 billion, Directorate General of Food Crops Rp2.75 trillion, and Directorate General of Horticulture at Rp503.43 billion.
Furthermore, the budget for the Directorate General of Plantation is allocated at Rp5.99 trillion, for the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Health at Rp1.16 trillion, and for the Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities at Rp4.42 trillion. Additionally, the budget for the Agricultural Assembly and Modernization Agency is Rp1.51 trillion, the Agricultural HR Development Agency is Rp4.06 trillion, and the Directorate General of Agricultural Land and Irrigation at Rp15.7 trillion.
Amran Sulaiman stated that the additional budget will be prioritized for several aspects, including employee expenditure, operational office expenses, multi-year contract settlements, Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme related to service availability, and the completion of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs in 2025-2026.
Amran Sulaiman proposed an increase in the budget from Rp13.75 trillion to Rp44.64 trillion. "This aims to continue and accommodate the needs of the 2025 work and programs, which have been used as the baseline and amounted to Rp29.374 trillion," said Amran Sulaiman during a working meeting with the House of Commission IV in Senayan, on Monday, July 7, 2025.
As for the details, Amran Sulaiman requested the government to maintain the 2025 ceiling at Rp29.37 trillion as the budget baseline, propose an additional fund of Rp10.07 trillion to achieve food self-sufficiency targets, and an additional Rp5.2 trillion for salary increments, performance bonuses, and full operational expenses.
In addition, Amran Sulaiman plans to develop several strategic plantation commodities, such as sugar cane, coconut, coffee, cocoa, cashews, pepper, and nutmeg. Furthermore, there are imported commodities such as garlic, soybeans, and wheat.
