TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government will import oil and gas from the United States worth US$15 billion (Rp253.2 trillion at an exchange rate of Rp16,883 per dollar) annually, as part of a bilateral trade agreement.

The plan was announced by Minister of Investment and Head of the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, during a virtual press conference on Friday, February 20, 2026.

"There is an agreement to import gas and crude oil worth US$15 billion per year," he said.

According to the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), Indonesia’s imports will include liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth US$ 3.5 billion, crude oil worth US$ 4.5 billion, and processed gasoline valued at US$7 billion.

Overall, Indonesia and the US have agreed on a commercial deal valued at US$33 billion (Rp577.1 trillion). This includes US energy commodities worth around US$ 15 billion, commercial aircraft and related aviation goods and services valued at approximately US$13.5 billion, including purchases from Boeing, and US agricultural products exceeding US$ .5 billion.

Separately, US-based gold mining company Freeport-McMoRan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia, extending its mining permit until 2061 and committing to an additional US$20 billion investment in the country.
