TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Recent protests across Indonesia have impacted various sectors, including tourism. In response, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has guaranteed the safety of foreign nationals living in or visiting the country.
"We ensure that all tourist destinations continue to operate as usual and can be accessed by tourists," the minister said, as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Tourism, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Widiyanti emphasized that the safety and comfort of tourists are the government's top priority. "We want every visitor to take home pleasant and positive memories while vacationing in Indonesia," she added.
For tourists who need assistance or have urgent questions, they can contact the Ministry of Tourism's Halo Wonderful service via WhatsApp at +62 811-895-6767 and by phone at +62 21-3838-000. Other important numbers include Police (110/112), Fire Department (113/1131), Ambulance (118/119), and Search and Rescue (115).
Furthermore, Widiyanti invited all members of society to help maintain a favorable tourism environment. She believes that a sense of security and comfort for visitors is determined not only by government policies but also by the public's attitude in creating a friendly and orderly atmosphere.
"Let's take care of and develop Indonesian tourism together. Well-managed tourism is tourism that is collectively managed, with a spirit of togetherness and a shared awareness of the importance of this industry for the future of the nation," the minister urged.
Tourism's Impact on the Economy
The tourism sector plays a crucial role in supporting Indonesia's national economic growth. In the second quarter of 2025, the sector contributed 5.12% to the country's economic growth. This demonstrates the strategic importance of tourism as a key pillar of Indonesia's economic development.
Through synergy between the government and society, the hope is not only to maintain social stability and national security but also to strengthen Indonesia's appeal as a premier tourist destination in Asia and worldwide.
