TEMPO.CO, JakartaAt least 50 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza in the past 24 hours. This brings the death toll from Israel's genocidal war since October 2023 to 51,355 people, according to the Health Ministry on Thursday, April 24, 2025, as reported by Anadolu.

Most of the casualties are women and children.

A ministry statement said that 152 of the injured were also transferred to hospitals, bringing the total number of injured in Gaza to 117,248 people.

"Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them."

Among the dead were twin girls, Saba and Sana. An Israeli missile took their lives, at age 4, in a matter of minutes as they slept soundly on Wednesday night.

"The strike hit the house at 1 a.m.," said a relative who refused to give their name to Anadolu.

"The girls screamed for their father for help before breathing their last."

Israeli fighter jets hit the house in the Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City early Wednesday while the Abu Seif family was sleeping.

Several people were injured in the attack, including the parents, but the 4-year-old twin girls were killed in the strike.

"There were no gunmen in the house; there were only sleeping children. What have they done to be killed?" the relative asked.

The Israeli military escalated its deadly assault on Gaza on March 18 and has since killed nearly 2,000 people and injured over 5,200 others. This action broke the ceasefire and the prisoner exchange deal that was in effect on January 19.

Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its wars in the enclave.
