TEMPO.CO, Jakarta A total of 205 early childhood, elementary, and junior high school students, as well as toddlers, in Cikalongkulon District, Cianjur Regency, West Java, are suspected of experiencing food poisoning after consuming foods from the free nutritious meal (MBG) program on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. In addition to the school students, several toddlers also suffered from mass poisoning.

A total of 190 victims were treated at the Cijagang Community Health Center and 15 at the Cikalongkulon Community Health Center. Due to their alarming condition, five victims, mostly toddlers, were referred to Sayang Cianjur Regional General Hospital, and two were referred to Dr. Hafiz Cianjur Hospital.

Mikdar, 34, a resident of Padajaya Village, Cikalongkulon District, said his 21-month-old child was poisoned after consuming the MBG his older sibling brought home from school. After eating the shredded chicken on the MBG menu, Mikdar said, his youngest child, Neng Inaya, immediately started vomiting.

"My child ate the MBG her older sibling brought home from school. After eating, she vomited and had to be treated at the Cikalongkulon Community Health Center. Her condition was concerning, and she was eventually referred to Sayang Cianjur Regional Hospital," Mikdar said when met in the Emergency Room of Sayang Cianjur Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

According to Mikdar, his two children, who are in second and sixth grades of elementary school, receive their MBG allowance daily. Today, their second-grade child didn't eat their MBG allowance at school but took it home.

Cikalongkulon Sub-district Head, Iyus Yusup, said that the victims suspected of having MBG poisoning came from several schools, including Langkob Elementary School and Majalaya 2 Elementary School. There were also victims from preschools and junior high schools.

"The number of victims is 205. Some are being treated at the Cijagang Community Health Center and the Cikalongkulon Community Health Center. Some have been discharged, while others have been referred to the Sayang Regional General Hospital and the Cianjur Regional General Hospital," said Iyus.

Iyus added that the MBG rations were supplied by the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit of the CV Yayasan Sain Bina Cendikia, located on Jalan Raya Jonggol, Sukagalih Village, Cikalongkulon District, Cianjur Regency.

Based on monitoring at the emergency room at the Sayang Regional General Hospital in Cianjur, as of 9:00 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), referred victims were still arriving in ambulances. The Regent of Cianjur, Mohammad Wahyu Ferdian, was also seen visiting the toddler who had been poisoned.

However, Wahyu quickly left and left with his entourage for Cikalongkulon.

"We'll go to the location in Cikalongkulon first," Wahyu said briefly.
