BPS: Russian Tourists Spend an Average of 25 Nights in Indonesia

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in July 2025 reached 1.48 million. The arrival of foreign tourists increased by 4.62 percent compared to the previous month.

Deputy of Statistics Distribution and Services at BPS, Pudji Ismartini, stated that compared to July of the previous year, the visitation of foreign nationals to Indonesia increased by 13.01 percent. She said, "Cumulatively, throughout January-July 2025, the total number of foreign tourist visits reached 8.53 million, an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period last year," during a press conference broadcasted on BPS's YouTube channel on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Foreign tourists who visited Indonesia in July 2025 were predominantly from Malaysia, with a total of 212,110 visits, or 14.32 percent of the total. This was followed by tourists from Australia with 173,240 visits, or 11.69 percent. Next were tourists from China and Singapore, with 144,530 and 114,220 visits respectively.

Quoting the BPS report, in July 2025, foreign tourists spent an average of 10.52 nights in Indonesia. Based on nationality, tourists from ASEAN had the shortest average stay at 4.79 nights.

Meanwhile, European tourists had the longest average stay, at 16.91 nights. Based on nationality, Russian tourists had the longest average stay, with an average of 25 nights, while tourists from Singapore had the shortest average stay at 3 nights.

The increase in the number of foreign tourist visits in July 2025 compared to the same month last year was evident across all nationality groups. Tourist visits from Africa experienced the highest increase at 33.27 percent, followed by tourists from Asia other than ASEAN at 20.00 percent. Foreign visitors from ASEAN who visited Indonesia also increased by 15.04 percent.

In addition, when compared to June 2025 on a month-to-month basis, tourist visits increased for some nationality groups. Visits from Europeans experienced the highest increase at 53.02 percent, followed by tourists from the Middle East with an increase of 36.58 percent.
