TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After a dry spell yesterday, rain is expected to return to Jakarta today, Sunday, December 7, 2025. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts that rain will again drench Jakarta, accompanied by lightning.

Rain and lightning will be widespread across the region, except for South Jakarta. According to the BMKG, this region will experience only lightning and no rain today—a situation unlike usual, where rain is more common in South Jakarta than in other parts of Jakarta.

What's also unusual today is the forecast for Bogor, which is cloudy, while other areas, such as Bekasi and Depok City, have the potential for light rain. The BMKG predicts South Tangerang City will also be cloudy today. Meanwhile, Tangerang will experience light rain.

In the past few days, the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area has experienced significant rainfall. Rain distribution maps from the BMKG show very heavy and heavy rain falling in several locations since the beginning of the week.

For example, on Monday, December 1. The Jagorawi Automatic Weather Station recorded 106.8 mm of rainfall (very heavy). Meanwhile, the Curug Meteorological Station (86.6 mm) in Tangerang, as well as stations in Cibeureum, Bogor (75.0 mm), and Citayam (60.0 mm) reported rainfall that was classified as heavy.

On Tuesday, December 2, high-intensity rainfall was reflected in data from stations at Halim Perdanakusuma (99.8 mm), Jatiasih, Bekasi (52.0 mm), and Curug, Tangerang (49.5 mm).

The following day, Wednesday, December 3, several rainfall observation stations in Depok City recorded very heavy rainfall, namely at Cimanggis (141.0 mm) and Depok 1 (114.0 mm), as well as heavy rain in Pesanggrahan (86 mm) and Beji (80.5 mm). Rain in Karet, Central Jakarta, was also classified as heavy (53.0 mm).

On Thursday, December 4, heavy rain was fairly widespread across Greater Jakarta. This is especially true in the cities of Tangerang, South Tangerang, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and Bogor City, as well as parts of East Jakarta and Bogor Regency.
