Why Indonesia Blocks Snapboost Over Its 'Click to Earn' Money Scheme

4 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas Pasti) has suspended the operations of digital platform Snapboost, which allegedly used a "Click to Earn" (C2E) scheme promising users income through social media interactions.

The platform claimed users could earn money by liking and sharing content on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. However, Satgas Pasti said the scheme showed indications of an illegal investment activity.

Satgas Pasti Secretary Hudiyanto said users were required to make deposits to participate and receive commissions from their activities.

"Snapboost also offered daily income, bonuses based on membership levels, and commissions through a member recruitment system," Hudiyanto said in an official statement on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The platform also allegedly offered prizes, including motorcycles and cars, for members who deposited a certain amount of money.

Snapboost Lacked Business Permits

Following an investigation, Satgas Pasti found that Snapboost did not have a registered legal entity or business license in Indonesia.

The task force also found that the application and website operated by Snapboost were not registered as Electronic System Providers (PSE) with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

Authorities also discovered that the operators allegedly changed website links or URLs periodically under different names. However, the platform's appearance, features, and operational mechanisms remained similar, suggesting that the sites were connected.

Based on these findings, Satgas Pasti halted Snapboost's activities and blocked access to the application and related links.

"Satgas Pasti is also coordinating with law enforcement authorities for further action in accordance with applicable regulations," Hudiyanto said.

Public Warned Against High-Profit Schemes

Satgas Pasti urged people who suffered losses from Snapboost or similar activities to report the cases to local law enforcement authorities.

The task force also reminded the public to remain cautious of financial schemes offering unrealistic returns in a short period, particularly those requiring upfront deposits or operating through platforms that frequently change their website addresses.

Reports of suspected financial fraud can be submitted through sipasti.ojk.go.id, OJK Contact 157, WhatsApp 081157157157, or email [email protected].

Victims of financial scams can also file reports through the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC) at iasc.ojk.go.id.
