2. No Discount, Trump Decides to Maintain 32 Percent Import Tariff on Indonesia

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has decided to maintain a 32 percent import tariff on Indonesia, unchanged from the 'reciprocal tariff' announced earlier in April, despite the ongoing intensive negotiations with Indonesia.

"Starting from August 1, 2025, we will impose a 32 percent tariff on all Indonesian products shipped to the United States, separate from other Sectoral Tariffs," Trump said in a letter dated July 7, addressed to the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, as reported by Antara on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

In the letter he posted in its entirety on his social media, Trump felt that the United States must act to address the trade deficit they have experienced after years of trade cooperation with Indonesia.

3. Floods in Jakarta Expand to 46 Areas, Height Reaches 1.3 Meters

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta stated that flooding in Jakarta has once again expanded. Previously, it was mentioned that floods had inundated 35 Neighborhood Units (RT) in West, East, South, and North Jakarta, but now the number has increased to 46 RTs.

"As of 06:00 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), there is flooding in 46 RTs," said the Head of BPBD Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Data released by BPBD Jakarta on Tuesday at 05:00 AM WIB showed that the flooding occurred in 35 RTs, comprising seven RTs in West Jakarta, one RT in East Jakarta, 25 RTs in South Jakarta, and two RTs in North Jakarta.
