TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Travelers who plan to spend New Year's Eve in the Puncak area in Bogor, West Java, should ensure they arrive before evening. This is because the Bogor Regency Government and the Bogor Police will implement a Car-Free Night (CFN) on Puncak Road on New Year's Eve. CFN will start on December 31, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time) until January 1, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. WIB.
The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bogor Regency, Ajat Rochmat Jatnika, stated that the policy is part of an integrated security measure to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of people in the Puncak tourist area. 'Car-Free Night is implemented to reduce congestion and potential traffic jams on Puncak Road on New Year's Eve, as well as to ensure public safety,' Ajat said in Cibinong on Monday, December 29, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
During the CFN period, vehicle traffic from Jakarta towards Cianjur or Bandung will be diverted through the Sukabumi route. In addition, people are also advised to use the alternative route of Cibubur-Cileungsi-Jonggol-Cariu-Cikalong-Cianjur to avoid congestion in the Puncak area.
Vehicle Checkpoints
The Bogor Police will set up vehicle checkpoints at six main points along Puncak Road. Four-wheeled vehicle checkpoints will be in place from 9:00 p.m. WIB to 2:00 a.m. WIB, while two-wheeled vehicles will be checked from 10:00 p.m. WIB to 12:30 a.m. WIB.
These six checkpoints include the Ayam Statue gas station, Pasir Angin Junction, Megamendung Junction, Lokawiratama Junction, Taman Safari Junction, and the Gunung Mas area.
A total of 72 personnel from the Traffic Unit, Department of Transportation, Public Order Agency, and Samapta have been deployed to secure and regulate traffic at these checkpoints.
Ajat added that the New Year's Eve security measures will also include disaster prevention steps considering that Puncak Road is prone to landslides, especially during the rainy season. "Integrated posts will be set up along Puncak Road, and heavy equipment will be stationed at Gadog Junction and Gunung Mas to anticipate potential landslides," he said.
The Bogor Regency Government urges people to plan their travels carefully, comply with traffic regulations, and follow the directions of officers to ensure a safe, orderly, and smooth New Year's Eve celebration.
The Puncak area in Bogor remains a favorite destination for celebrating New Year's Eve. This area offers cool air, mountainous natural scenery, and is relatively close to Jakarta and its surroundings. People can also choose from a variety of accommodations, ranging from hotels, villas, to family lodgings.
