TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with his South Korean counterpart Lee Jae Myung at the Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO), Gyeongju, on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2025 Summit.
According to the Presidential Secretariat's press release, Prabowo extended his appreciation to President Lee for hosting the APEC Summit in 2025, deeming the event successful.
"I would like to congratulate you on your leadership at APEC. This is a very excellent, organized event, very efficient, and always punctual, down to the minute," said Prabowo.
After attending the gala dinner the previous night, Prabowo expressed his gratitude to Lee. "I would also like to thank you for the beautiful gala dinner last night. It was very interesting," said Prabowo.
The Indonesian leader also mentioned the enchanting music and dance of South Korea, stating that K-pop culture is highly popular among the youth in Indonesia. "I think Korea is going to conquer the world with your music and dance. The young Indonesians are all crazy about K-pop," he said, which was welcomed with a warm smile by Lee.
In return, Lee Jae Myung expressed gratitude and honor for President Prabowo's visit to South Korea, stressing the importance of dialogue and cooperation amidst an uncertain global security.
"Currently, we live in an unstable security environment. Hence, I would like to ask you, Mr. President, to share some of your wisdom with me and the Republic of Korea," said Lee.
Lee also praised Prabowo's leadership in his first year as President of Indonesia. According to Lee, South Korea looks forward to Prabowo's visit, after it was delayed last September. "I am confident that the Korean people will welcome you wholeheartedly," he said.
