Prabowo Summons TNI Commander, Chiefs of Staff for Strategic Meeting at Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received reports from the top ranks of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) regarding the progress and achievements of various strategic programs carried out by the institution.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Head of State received the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyanto, Deputy Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

In the meeting, President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

"The Commander and the chiefs of staff reported on the progress of various strategic programs carried out by the TNI, including the achievements of programs directly supporting the equitable development and improved welfare of the people," said Teddy via the Instagram account @sekretariat.kabinet.

Teddy stated that one of the topics discussed was the Indonesian Army's matra program related to the development of electricity in Papua, especially in the mountainous regions. "Which has now reached over 200 villages today," said Teddy.

Furthermore, Teddy mentioned the ongoing construction of the Garuda Suspension Bridge connecting villages in various regions of Indonesia. "And currently, it has approached nearly 2,000 points," he said.

Moreover, the expansion of the pipeline program and the construction of water wells in areas with limited access to clean water were discussed. Based on the report from the Indonesian Army, by June 2026, the number of construction points had approached 2,000 locations. Teddy claimed that the program benefitted around one million residents.

As for the meeting, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak also reported on the progress of various programs aimed at improving the welfare of the soldiers and supporting the TNI's main tasks throughout Indonesia.

"Through these various programs, the TNI continues to contribute to strengthening equitable development, improving inter-regional connectivity, and helping meet the basic needs of people, including those in remote areas," said Teddy.
