KPK Continues Probe Into Alleged Corruption in MBG Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it will continue the probe into the alleged corruption case in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The anti-corruption commission revealed the continuation of the investigation by seeking loopholes in the corruption allegations regarding the priority program of President Prabowo Subianto.

"Who knows, for example, there might be different locations and times, or other parties that are also captured by the KPK," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta, on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Budi refused to detail the material of the alleged MBG corruption being investigated by the institution. Budi stated that there is a possibility that the KPK may discover different allegations of MBG corruption from those already handled by the Attorney General's Office.

Previously, the KPK stated that it had different case material from the Attorney General's Office in investigating the alleged corruption in the free nutritious meal program at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The anti-corruption agency stated that they would not equate the MBG case being handled by the Attorney General's Office.

"The KPK does not duplicate the law enforcement process for cases that have been handled by other law enforcers," said Budi in a written statement on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Budi stated that the KPK will still open up the opportunity to coordinate with the Attorney General's Office in investigating the alleged MBG corruption. According to Budi, this is important for the handling of cases involving one of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs to run effectively.

Chair of the KPK Setyo Budiyanto declined to respond to the possibility of the MBG corruption case being investigated by his institution being transferred to the Attorney General's Office. However, he believed that the Attorney General's Office already had its own data to investigate the MBG corruption case.

Furthermore, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPKP) has also submitted the results of the audit examination to the Attorney General's Office. "In my opinion, if the Attorney General's Office already has data, has conducted an examination, and even named a suspect, that's the information that can be used," said Setyo when met at the National Administrative Institute (LAN) Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

However, Setyo added that if the prosecutors still need data held by the KPK, their investigators are ready to coordinate with the prosecutors. "But, until now, there has been no communication," he said.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Office is also investigating the alleged deviations in the MBG program conducted by the BGN. The investigation led to the naming of former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana and two former BGN Vice Chairmen, Inspector General (Ret.) Sony Sonjaya and Lieutenant General (Ret.) Lodewyk Pusung as suspects.

At the Attorney General's Office, the case stemmed from an investigation into the alleged governance deviation of the MBG program that occurred throughout 2025-2026. Investigators suspect there was a practice of trading points of the Nutritious Meal Fulfillment Service (SPPG) in the program. The alleged deviation caused state financial losses and benefited several parties.

In the course of the case, the Attorney General's Office also named another suspect, Asep Yusuf Somantri. Director of Investigation at the Attorney General's Special Crimes Attorney, Syarief Sulaiman Nahdi, stated that Asep was a trusted person of Sony Sonjaya. Syarief mentioned that Asep was asked by Sony to find partners for the MBG program.

"Last Saturday, on June 6, 2026, the investigative team named one more suspect named AYS as a private party," said Syarief.

Prosecutors also named another suspect, the Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal, Andri Mulyono, the company that provided electric motorcycles ordered by BGN. In addition to the SPPG issue, the procurement of electric motorcycles by the BGN has also become a subject of the prosecutor's investigation.

Most recently, the prosecutors have named Chairman of the Indonesia Food Security Review Foundation, Glory Harimas Sihombing, as a new suspect in the alleged corruption case of the MBG project. Glory is suspected of colluding with former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, who was previously named a suspect. Glory and Dadan have known each other.
