TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the electric motorcycle incentive could take effect as early as September 2026.
"The electric motorcycle subsidy should be implemented by September," Purbaya said when met at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.
However, the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) that forms the basis for implementing the policy has not yet been issued.
Purbaya said he would first meet with Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita to coordinate. "He (Minister Agus) hasn't spoken to me yet. I'll visit him tomorrow," he said.
As previously reported, Minister Agus said the Rp5 million electric motorcycle incentive was still awaiting the issuance of the PMK from the Ministry of Finance.
Agus emphasized that the Ministry of Industry, as the technical ministry, was ready to implement the program. However, implementation could only begin after the regulation from the Ministry of Finance was issued.
"We're waiting for the Finance Minister Regulation," said Agus at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Monday, August 17.
According to Agus, the issuance of the regulation rests entirely with the Ministry of Finance. However, the Ministry of Industry has prepared the technical aspects of the program's implementation.
"We're ready, the Ministry of Industry, as the technical ministry, is ready," he said. "Once the PMK is finalized, we'll make adjustments," he explained.
Agus added that the list of electric motorcycle brands that will receive incentives is still being discussed jointly by the Ministry of Industry, Danantara Indonesia, and the Ministry of Finance.
