TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Indonesia and India have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the space sector through joint research, technology transfer, and capacity building.

PM Modi said the two countries' space cooperation has existed for years and has now been strengthened through a number of new agreements reached during a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, on Tuesday.

"We have taken important decisions today to advance joint research, technology sharing, and capacity building in the space sector," Modi said, as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, the agreement is an important step to expand collaboration in the fields of science and technology while also improving the capabilities of both countries in developing space technology.

In addition to space cooperation, Modi emphasized the importance of building a resilient technology supply chain amidst global dynamics.

He said Indonesia and India agreed to strengthen the supply chain of critical minerals and steel as important components for the development of strategic industries.

"In today’s world, ‘supply chain resilience’ in technology has become critically important. We have also concluded an important agreement to strengthen supply chain resilience in the areas of critical minerals and steel," he said.

Modi added that the business world of the two countries was starting to build partnerships in the industrial sector, including the development of stainless steel and rare earth metals.

According to him, this collaboration is expected to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian and Indian industries while supporting the development of advanced technology and strengthening the economic resilience of both countries.
