TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Raden Dato Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo has been nominated by the government to serve as Indonesia's ambassador to Malaysia.
Known as Raden, Iman Kusumo previously held the position of Deputy Treasurer for the National Campaign Team of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka during the 2024 general election.
Iman appeared at the Nusantara II building of the People’s Consultative Assembly to undergo the fit and proper test for the ambassadorial post. He was scheduled to take part in the first session of the test, held from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM.
Wearing a dark blue suit and a light blue tie, Iman arrived at 12:16 PM. He appeared in a rush and declined to comment on his potential appointment. He immediately proceeded to the meeting room of the House of Representatives' Commission I on Defense.
Iman is one of 12 ambassadorial candidates being evaluated in the fit and proper test today. His nomination is listed in Presidential Letter Number R3, dated July 1, 2025, which includes 24 proposed names for ambassadorial postings to various countries and Indonesia's permanent mission to the United Nations.
Utut Adianto Wahjuwidajat, Chairman of the House of Representatives' Commission I, said he would review Iman Kusumo’s background, particularly his involvement in the Prabowo-Gibran campaign team. "I will check later. I wasn’t present during the first session," Utut stated at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
