TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made history by becoming champion for the first time in the Champions League after defeating Inter Milan with a score of 5-0 in the final held at Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany, on Saturday night, May 31, 2025, local time.
Achraf Hakimi put PSG in the lead just 12 minutes into the match. He was able to finish off a pass from Desire Doue inside the box with a shot using his right foot from the middle of the penalty area. This goal was made possible by Vitinha, who sent a breakthrough pass to Doue to be delivered to Hakimi.
Only eight minutes later, under the guidance of Luis Enrique, the team doubled their lead. After creating an assist for Hakimi's goal, he put his name on the scoresheet by scoring the second goal for Les Parisiens.
Ousmane Dembele launched a quick attack. He then passed the ball to Doue, who then finished it off by kicking the ball from the right side of the box to the upper right corner of the goal that Sommer couldn't reach. This goal made PSG lead 2-0 in the first half.
Throughout the first half, PSG dominated the game. They controlled possession of the ball up to 63 percent and recorded 13 shots, five of which were on target. In contrast, Inter could only make two attempts at goal, none of which were on target.
PSG's dominance continued into the second half. They continued to threaten Inter's goal. When the match entered the 57th minute, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi received a yellow card for overreacting on the sidelines.
Inter, still struggling to break through PSG's defense, conceded again in the 63rd minute. Doue scored his second goal in this European competition final. The 19-year-old player was able to finish off a back-heel pass from Vitinha to deceive the defenders. He released a low shot to the near post that Sommer couldn't stop.
Doue celebrated his second goal by taking off his shirt and facing his supporters in the stands. This action resulted in him being shown a yellow card.
Two minutes after scoring his second goal, Doue was taken off the field to be replaced by Bradley Barcola. PSG continued to play comfortably. They did not ease off on their attacks despite already leading by three goals.
Ultimately, in the 73rd minute, PSG managed to score their fourth goal. Dembele made a pass which was directed to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who, unmarked, moved forward and then took a shot after passing Sommer.
PSG's young player, Senny Mayulu, who came on in the 84th minute, scored PSG's fifth goal. The 18-year-old player took a shot from close range after taking advantage of a pass from Bradley Barcola.
Inter Milan didn't have many opportunities to score. Marcus Thuram had a chance but his shot was still unable to beat the PSG goal.
PSG made history by winning the Champions League for the first time, and they also set a new record with a 5-0 victory in the final of this European competition. Previously, the Ligue 1 team had reached the final in the 2020 edition when coached by Thomas Tuchel, but failed to lift the trophy after being defeated by Bayern Munich.
For Inter, they failed to achieve their fourth title in the Champions League. Simone Inzaghi, who had previously led Nerazzurri to the final of this competition in 2023, once again failed to deliver this prestigious European title. Inter's last triumph in this competition was in 2010 under the guidance of Jose Mourinho.
For Enrique, this is his second Champions League title with two different teams. Previously, he guided Barcelona to win this trophy for the fifth time in 2015. Throughout the final match between PSG and Inter Milan, the Spanish coach looked jubilant. He repeatedly ran and jumped to celebrate the goals made by his team.
