TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The families of Muhammad Farhan Hamid and Reno Syahputradewo have undergone deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing following the discovery of two human skeletons on the second floor of the Astra Credit Companies (ACC) building in Kwitang, Senen Sub-district, Central Jakarta. Farhan and Reno were two individuals reported missing since the series of protests in August 2025.
"Yes, it's true, the families conducted DNA tests on October 30 and 31, 2025," said the Central Jakarta Resort Police's Criminal Investigation Unit head, Commissioner Roby Heri Saputra, when confirmed by Tempo on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Roby said the DNA samples from Farhan and Reno's families were taken at the Indonesian National Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor). Currently, the police are still awaiting the laboratory examination results to confirm the identities of the two bodies.
The Central Jakarta Police found two charred human skeletons on the second floor of the ACC Kwitang building, buried under the burnt ceiling of the building. "They were charred and unrecognizable," said the Chief of the Jakarta Metro Police, Grand Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, when contacted on Friday, October 31, 2025.
The report of this discovery was received by the police on Thursday, when the ACC building's technical team was checking the construction for the building's renovation. The ACC building was set on fire by the crowd during the riot in front of the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters, Kwitang, Central Jakarta, on September 2.
The police have sent the two bodies to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, for forensic examination. "Both skeletons have been brought to Kramat Jati Police Hospital for further forensic examination, including the collection of DNA samples," said Susatyo.
The Chief of the Hospital, Brigadier General dr. Prima Heru Y. confirmed the delivery of bodies by the Senen Sector Police.
Based on Tempo's observation, the ACC Kwitang building has not been repaired since it was set ablaze by the crowd in early September 2025. The entrance to the building is closed from both sides, and there are no visible police lines from outside the building. Nonetheless, Tempo does not have access to the inside of the building.
Farhan and Reno, according to the human rights watchdog KontraS' observation, were recorded missing since August 31 and 30, 2025. They were last known to be in the Mako Brimob area in Kwitang.
