Fact Check: Pertamina Does Not Offer Free Fuel Vouchers via DM Registration

1 hour ago 1

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of accounts on Threads (Account 1 [archive], Account 2) have been circulating information about registration for a supposed free fuel voucher (BBM) program in 2026. The program is claimed to be a solution to rising living costs caused by high fuel prices.

The posts, presented in poster form, use the Pertamina logo and state that the program is open to the public with a national identification number (NIK).

Registration is said to be conducted online via direct message (DM) to the account. Users are also instructed to type the word “Info” in the comment section to receive further updates.

Is it true that registration for the 2026 free fuel voucher program is available via DM on Threads?

FACT CHECK

Tempo’s verification through official websites and credible media reports shows that Pertamina has never launched any free fuel voucher program for 2026. The registration links being circulated by the actors are confirmed to be fake. The official Pertamina website is https://stg.mypertamina.id.

This scam appears to exploit the momentum of rising non-subsidized fuel prices as of June 10, 2026. At that time, Pertamax (RON 92) increased to Rp16,250 per liter and Pertamax Green 95 rose to Rp17,000 per liter.

Through its Instagram account @mypertamina, Pertamina management urged the public to be cautious of scams disguised as free fuel offers that spread fake links. All information regarding promotions, programs, and services is only published through the official website mypertamina.id.

Registration through fake links carries risks of phishing, personal data theft, bank account draining, and malware infection. These malicious links often disguise themselves with urgent narratives and cloned URLs.

Checking Link Authenticity

To prevent victims, the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) outlined seven common signs of fake links:

  1. Imitating well-known institutions: Perpetrators mimic banks, e-commerce platforms, government agencies, or large companies.

  2. Unofficial URLs: Website addresses look similar but differ in letters or symbols (e.g., www.bankandda.com). They also often use untrusted domains such as “.xyz” or “.tk”.

  3. Poor spelling: Phishing messages often contain typos and awkward sentences, unlike official institutions that use professional language.

  4. Requesting personal data directly: Sensitive information such as names, NIK, passwords, PINs, or OTP codes is requested via the link.

  5. Strange characters: Fake URLs often include unusual characters such as “%20” or random number combinations.

  6. No HTTPS protocol: The site does not show a secure padlock icon or “https”, making transmitted data vulnerable to hacking.

  7. Amateur visuals: Web pages appear messy with low-quality design and images.

CONCLUSION

Based on Tempo’s verification, the claim of 2026 free fuel voucher registration via DM on Threads is false. The posts are a form of digital fraud or phishing.
