TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Prasetyo Hadi, State Secretariat Minister, dismisses the suggestions that investigating former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah requires President Prabowo Subianto's approval.
The Presidential Palace spokesperson stresses that the legal process for Febrie or other high-ranking officials must comply with legal mechanisms. "I don't think it's true that the president must greenlight the questioning," said Prasetyo when met at the parliament complex in Jakarta, Monday, July 20, 2026.
The Palace asks all parties not to associate Febrie's case with President Prabowo, as the palace leaves the case to the applicable legal mechanism.
Febrie's lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea, earlier said that Febrie's designation as suspect was conducted without first seeking permission or informing President Prabowo.
Hotman claimed that Febrie is Prabowo's prized aide, as the Executive Chair of the Task Force for the settlement of forest areas (Satgas PKH) has returned around Rp430 trillion in losses to the state.
Hotman questioned why Febrie was named as a suspect without Prabowo's knowledge while urging the public to query the Police Chief about this. "The most important thing for you to ask, if you dare ask the police chief: 'hey, why didn't you ask Pak Prabowo first before taking action against the right-hand man whom President Prabowo is proud of?'" said Hotman after accompanying Febrie at the Attorney General's Office, Friday, July 17, 2026.
Febrie Adriansyah is allegedly involved in three corruption cases under police investigation: corruption and money laundering in the handling of PT Asabri cases from 2020 to 2024, PT Krakatau Steel cases from 2023 to 2025, and the procurement of coal supply for power plants.
The Corruption Eradication Task Force of the Indonesian National Police and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metro Police or raided 13 locations on July 8-9, 2026.
During these raids, Febrie's house on Jalan Radio I, Kramat Pela, South Jakarta was guarded by Indonesian soldiers late Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The soldiers carried long-barreled weapons guarding the main gate of the house. Some also walked in the front yard of Febrie's house. Several hours later, dozens of TNI members visited the Jakarta Metro Police Complex around 03:40 a.m. local time on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
