TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday at the Bogor Botanical Gardens in West Java has been enlivened by the ‘Poelang Kampoeng’ program. Held from March 21 to 29, 2026, at Taman Reinwardt, the initiative was designed as an alternative celebratory space for those skipping the annual homecoming trek, bringing a rustic village atmosphere to the heart of the city.
By the third day after Eid (D+3), the botanical gardens recorded a surge in visitors of more than 40 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 10,000 visitors per day.
On Monday, Afandika Akbar Utama, Senior Operational Manager of PT Mitra Natura Raya, stated in Bogor that this upward trend is expected to persist until the end of the holiday period.
"Our observations during the D+3 Lebaran holiday show that the number of visitors to Bogor Botanical Gardens has increased by more than 40% compared to last year. We are targeting 100,000 visitors in total, with a daily target of 10,000," Afandika said, as reported by Antara.
Afandika explained that the Poelang Kampoeng concept highlights tradition, togetherness, and typical Lebaran activities, all packaged into a warm and inclusive experience for guests.
"Through tradition, togetherness, and typical Lebaran activities, the Botanical Gardens is presented as a space that brings the spirit of returning to one’s village to life in a way that remains relevant for visitors," he remarked.
The Poelang Kampoeng program is divided into four primary zones: Kampung Rasa, Kampung Budaya, Kampung Kumpul, and Kampung Bermain.
In the Kampung Rasa zone, visitors can savor a variety of traditional Indonesian culinary delights presented by local MSMEs, such as Bandung’s mie kocok, Palembang’s pempek, Yogyakarta’s gudeg, and rolled papeda from Papua.
Meanwhile, Kampung Budaya showcases traditional art performances from various regions, including Jaipong dance, Reog Ponorogo, tanjidor, and interactive ondel-ondel.
On the other hand, Kampung Kumpul provides a relaxed space for families to picnic and spend quality time together within an open concept free of rigid schedules. Finally, Kampung Bermain offers various traditional games such as egrang, long bakiak, and engklek for communal play, evoking a sense of nostalgia for the village atmosphere.
