
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast light rain across most parts of Indonesia on Thursday.
According to BMKG’s official website, light rain is expected in several cities, including Bandung, Banjarbaru, Bengkulu, Gorontalo, Jambi, Makassar, Mamuju, Manado, and Mataram.
Other cities also forecast to experience light rain include Medan (North Sumatra), Nabire (Central Papua), Palangka Raya (Central Kalimantan), Palembang (South Sumatra), Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Pontianak (West Kalimantan), Samarinda (East Kalimantan), Semarang (Central Java), Serang, Sofifi (North Maluku), and Sorong (Southwest Papua).
BMKG also forecast cloudy conditions in Jakarta, Ambon, Banda Aceh, Denpasar (Bali), Jayapura (Papua), Jayawijaya (Papua Highlands), Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi), Manokwari (West Papua), Merauke (South Papua), Palu (Central Sulawesi), Surabaya (East Java), and Yogyakarta.
Meanwhile, Bandar Lampung is forecast to experience clear weather, while Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara) is expected to see partly cloudy conditions.
BMKG warned the public of potential thunderstorms in Pekanbaru (Riau) and Tanjung Pinang (Riau Islands). Padang (West Sumatra) is also forecast to experience thunderstorms, while Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan) may see hazy conditions.
The agency urged residents in affected areas to remain alert to changing weather conditions, including the possibility of heavy rain and lightning in several regions.
