BI Speaks Out Regarding Employee's Suicide by Jumping from Helipad

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) has addressed the news regarding the death of a central bank employee at the Bank Indonesia Office Complex last Monday, May 26, 2025.

In a written statement, BI expresses deep condolences over the passing of one of Bank Indonesia's extended family members.

Head of the BI Communications Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, mentioned that together with the family and the police, the central bank has accompanied the deceased to their final resting place. "The entire funeral process has proceeded smoothly," Ramdan said.

Additionally, BI also requests the public to pray for the deceased. "We ask for all colleagues' prayers so that the deceased may find a good place in the sight of Allah SWT," said Ramdan.

The police previously confirmed the death of a BI employee with the initials RANK, who died after jumping from the BI Office Building in Central Jakarta last Monday.

"We confirm the information about the BI employee who passed away at the BI Office Complex in Central Jakarta, on Monday, May 26, 2025 in the morning," said Gambir Police Chief, Commissioner Rezeki Revi in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, as quoted from Antara.

Following the incident, the police immediately conducted the crime scene investigation. From there, it was known that the deceased, aged 23, had served as an Assistant Manager at BI since January 2025. "During the crime scene investigation, no signs of violence were found on the deceased's body," he said.

Revi also added that based on CCTV analysis and witness statements, facts were obtained.

"After arriving at the BI Building around 05:48 AM, the deceased took the Tipikal building lift and went directly to the 15th floor at 06:01 AM, and jumped from the west rooftop of the Tipikal BI building at around 06:07 AM," he said.

As for this news, it initially surfaced following a post on social media X through the @direkturBI account with the name yougodownjustlike. "Guys, I deliberately made this anonymous because I'm really upset that it didn't make it to the mainstream media. This morning, there was a Bank Indonesia employee who committed suicide by jumping from the Helipad at 06:30, initials RK 24 years old," said the account.

The account also expressed the suspicion that the employee did so due to work pressure and the dynamics of the job," wrote the account, which was uploaded on Monday (5/26) at 18:57 WIB. However, the account has now disappeared or been suspended by X.
