TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The rainy season like the holiday season at the end of the year needs to be anticipated by the public. During the rain, disease-carrying microorganisms can attack humans. Therefore, the body's stamina must be maintained to stay healthy and fit. By keeping the body in prime condition during the rainy season, people can avoid various lurking diseases.

What are the diseases that need to be anticipated during the rainy season?

1. Influenza

The influenza virus spreads through body fluids such as mucus or saliva. The symptoms of influenza are cough, cold, sore throat, fatigue, lethargy, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever up to 38 degrees.

2. Dengue Fever

Dengue fever is caused by viruses carried by Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus mosquitoes. The symptoms of dengue fever include headache, sudden fever, pain behind the eye, nausea, and manifestations of bleeding such as bleeding gums, as well as redness on the patient's body. The most effective prevention of dengue fever is the Eradication of Mosquito Nest with 3M Plus.

3. Diarrhea

Diarrhea occurs due to consuming food contaminated with bacteria, viruses, or parasites such as E.Coli, Salmonella, Shigella, etc. The symptoms of diarrhea include dehydration, fatigue, dry skin, dizziness, and frequent bowel movements. Maintaining cleanliness by practicing a clean and healthy lifestyle is the main step to prevent diarrhea.

4. Leptospirosis

This disease is transmitted through rat urine. Transmission occurs in the human body through mucous membranes, eyes, nose, open skin, and food. The symptoms of Leptospirosis are chills, cough, diarrhea, high fever, headache, muscle pain, red eyes, and loss of appetite.

Other than health concerns, another thing to beware of during the rainy season is the disaster of flooding. High rainfall, river overflows, and limited drainage capacity often become the main triggers for waterlogging in various areas in DKI Jakarta.

Various factors can cause a region, including Jakarta, to be affected by flooding. Such as high-intensity rainfall, local river overflow, and overwhelmed drainage systems. Jakarta's geographical condition, which is located in a low-lying area with a large river flow, as well as an extreme rainfall pattern, is the main risk factor for ongoing flooding that threatens urban residents.

One of the effective efforts in controlling flooding in Jakarta is the construction of infiltration wells. Infiltration wells help optimize the infiltration of rainwater into the soil, thus reducing the burden of surface waterlogging and helping to replenish groundwater. Regulations such as those stipulated in the DKI Jakarta Governor's Regulation require the development of infiltration wells in every new area development.

In support of flood mitigation efforts, the Holywings Peduli CSR program from the Holywings Group has taken concrete action in the Karet Kuningan, South Jakarta. One of them is the provision of drilling machines for use in creating infiltration wells in the area. The provision of drilling machines is seen as a concrete contribution to help accelerate the construction of infiltration wells, a practical solution for rainwater to be absorbed more effectively into the soil and reduce the potential for waterlogging during the rainy season. Initiatives like this are an important part of the collaborative approach between private parties, the local government, and residents to address flooding disasters sustainably.

Andrew Susanto, the Chief Commissioner of the Holywings Group and Chairman of the Holywings Peduli CSR Program, sees the issue of flooding in Jakarta as a joint challenge that requires collaboration from various parties. He hopes that this activity can support sustainable flood prevention efforts. "This initiative is a manifestation of our commitment to continuously present and make a real contribution to the environment and society," said Andrew Susanto in a press release received by Tempo on December 28, 2025.

The Head of Karet Kuningan appreciates this support. This facility is expected to help reduce the risk of waterlogging and flooding in the Karet Kuningan area. "The village government welcomes this collaboration as a form of joint concern for the environment and the safety of the community," said Istanbul Afrikana, the Head of Karet Kuningan.
