TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bali Governor Wayan Koster called on lawyer organizations to assist the province's 'one village, one advocate' program. He conveyed this while ianugurating the National Deliberation Meeting (Munas) of the Indonesian Lawyer Association Suara Advokat Indonesia (Peradi SAI) in Badung Regency on Friday, July 25, 2025.
"In Bali, there are 636 villages, 80 sub-districts, and 1,500 traditional villages. I had a discussion with the Peradi SAI Bali officials to plan the 'one village, one lawyer' program," Wayan Koster said.
To facilitate the program, Koster asked the Chair of Peradi SAI, Juniver Girsang, to "ask their lawyers to offer services in villages for free," as quoted by Antara on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Koster considers this program similar to the 'one village, one medical clinic' program and the 'one family, one scholar' program. He believes that in the future, this program will greatly benefit the community.
In this regard, the presence of legal experts in the villages, Koster said, will help the community obtain justice without being charged for fees. "This is an amazing program to help our communities in the villages to access justice during legal cases," he said. "This could be established in regular or traditional villages, preferably in the traditional villages," Koster said.
The Bali Provincial Government hopes that this lawyer organization can contribute to the community without burdening the Regional Budget (APBD) or the villages and their people. "Find the money elsewhere, because the villages do not have the money, our community cannot afford it, so provide that service, find your good karma and fortune in good places," he said.
Koster hopes that the idea of the 'one village, one advocate' program is met with positive responses to ensure its realization. If successful, this program could also become a model for other regions in Indonesia, considering that in the future, the need for legal assistance may increase.
"Our community increasingly needs legal assistance for their protection, and according to me, Peradi SAI can play a crucial role in Indonesian and Balinese community justice," he said.
In response to Koster's request, Juniver expressed readiness to contribute to the government's program. "Bali's Governor's request for cooperation with Peradi SAI for the 'one village, one advocate' program is fascinating, and we support it; we ask the Chair of Peradi in Bali to realize it," Juniver said.
