TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Italian tenor singer Andrea Bocelli is set to return to Indonesia to mark the 30th anniversary of his album Romanza. The maestro is scheduled to deliver two performances in Magelang and Jakarta.
The opening concert will take place in the Borobudur area of Magelang on October 31, 2026. The following show will be staged at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Jakarta, on November 3, 2026. The tour is promoted by Shoemaker Live alongside Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo).
Bocelli's visit to Indonesia is part of a broader celebration marking three decades of Romanza, a landmark album first released in 1996 before making its international debut a year later. The record features several signature tracks that defined Bocelli's legacy, including “Con Te Partirò”, “Vivere”, “Per Amore”, “Il Mare Calmo Della Sera”, “Caruso”, “Vivo per Lei”, and his famous duet with Sarah Brightman, “Time to Say Goodbye”.
Romanza has recorded sales of roughly 20 million copies worldwide. It earned platinum and diamond certifications across more than 20 countries while topping music charts in 11 markets.
Bocelli noted that “Con Te Partirò” remains the most iconic and emotionally resonant track on the album. He confirmed that the signature piece will be included in his Indonesian setlist.
“The most iconic and emotionally resonant song for the audience is "Con Te Partirò." Like other tracks on this album, it stirs emotions and memories that touch millions of listeners worldwide. This song will definitely be performed in Indonesia,” Bocelli said during a virtual press conference on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
Romanza is also widely credited with redefining the boundaries of classical crossover music. The selections within the album seamlessly blend classical and opera music with the accessible appeal of popular music.
From Sanremo to the World Stage
Prior to releasing Romanza, Bocelli won the Newcomer category at the 1994 Sanremo Music Festival with “Il Mare Calmo Della Sera”. He returned to the prestigious festival the following year to perform “Con Te Partirò”.
Across a career spanning more than three decades, Bocelli has navigated opera, classical repertoire, and pop music with equal mastery. He has collaborated with artists across diverse genres and headlined major global stages.
According to event organizers, Bocelli has sold over 90 million albums worldwide, cementing his position as one of the most successful classical crossover artists of his generation.
The Indonesian leg of the Romanza celebration will offer two distinct concert settings. The October 31 performance at Borobudur will be set against Central Java's iconic cultural heritage site, complemented by a cultural village highlighting the traditions of Magelang and the surrounding region. Meanwhile, the November 3 concert at JIExpo Kemayoran will offer a large-scale, arena-style production.
Bocelli expressed enthusiasm about returning to Indonesia. He added that he is keeping in top physical condition to deliver an extraordinary performance.
“I am delighted to return to Indonesia after a decade and look forward to experiencing the warmth and hospitality of its people once again,” Bocelli said.
Ticket prices for Andrea Bocelli’s performance at Borobudur in Magelang range from Rp1.25 million to Rp17.5 million.
