TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director of Cyber Crime at the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of Indonesian National Police (Polri), Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, stated that they have cooperated with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Komdigi) to block 592 social media accounts.

"These social media accounts spread provocation, incite and provoke the public through social media to commit unlawful acts during the demonstration," he said at the Bareskrim Building on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Through the investigation of these provocative accounts, the Cyber Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri and the Cyber Crime Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya have named 7 individuals as suspects of provocation and incitement.

The seven individuals are WH (31 years old), owner of the Instagram account @Bekasi_menggungat; KA (24), a 11th-semester student, owner of the Instagram account @aliansimahasiswapenggugat; LFH (26 years old), a contract employee of an international agency who owns the Instagram account @larasfaizati; CS (30 years old), a private employee who owns the TikTok account @cecepmunich; IS (39 years old), owner of the TikTok account @hs02775; SB (35 years old), a private employee who owns the Facebook account Nannu and G (20 years old), owner of the Facebook account Bambu Runcing. Out of the 7 individuals, only CS was not detained, and is only required to report regularly.

The provocative invitations uploaded and spread by them include calling for the burning of the Bareskrim Polri building, storming the homes of several officials, uploading manipulated content that does not reflect the actual facts, as well as calling for demonstrations at Soekarno Hatta Airport.

Himawan emphasized that the police are still actively patrolling cyberspace and there may be new additions to the list of suspects. "We urge the entire society to always verify the accuracy of information before sharing it, to avoid spreading hate speech and to create a healthy, safe, and beneficial digital space for all of us."
