TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Houston Stadium will be one of the prestigious venues for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, from June 11 to July 20.

Seven matches of the 2026 World Cup will be held in this Space City.

Citing the FIFA page, as quoted by ANTARA, during the 2026 World Cup, NRG Stadium, located on NRG Parkway in Houston, Texas, will be called Houston Stadium. The name complies with FIFA's regulations, which prohibit the use of commercial names during the World Cup.

The stadium will host five group-stage matches, as well as one round of 32 and one round of 16 matches.

The stadium opened in 2002 and has a seating capacity of 72,000. It is one of the most modern sports venues in the U.S. and boasts a retractable roof that allows for comfortable play in all weather conditions.

The Houston Texans' stadium is often the site of international entertainment and sporting events, such as the MLS All-Star match and the 2016 Copa America Centenario.

One of the stadium's distinctive features is the "Bull Pen" area, which is the grandstand occupied by diehard Houston Texans fans.

Houston has a close relationship with soccer. The city is active in developing youth soccer through the South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA), which has over 100,000 members. The program is part of an effort to leave a long-term legacy for the development of soccer in the U.S.

Founded in 1837, one of the most important cities in the U.S. was named after General Sam Houston. It grew rapidly thanks to its port industry and railroads, as well as the discovery of oil fields in 1901.

Houston is also home to the NASA-Johnson Space Center, earning the city the nickname "Space City."

The city is also home to the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical complex, spanning more than 3.2 square kilometers. Southeast Texas's largest metropolis has a network of underground pedestrian tunnels that stretches more than 6 miles.

Houston is also the hometown of several world-famous figures, including pop singer Beyonce, filmmaker Wes Anderson, and WWE legend The Undertaker.

In sports history, the Houston Rockets once brought the city its first major sporting trophy when they won the NBA in 1994. Houston is now preparing to add to its history by becoming one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
