TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB) said its planned protest in Jakarta on Thursday, August 27, 2026, will focus on two demands: the immediate passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and the implementation of the death penalty for corruption offenses.

AMPB coordinator Supriyono, also known as Botok, said the rally outside the Parliament complex would focus solely on the two demands.

“We are focusing on those two demands. There is no call for Prabowo-Gibran to step down,” Botok told reporters outside the Parliament, Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 26.

He said AMPB supports the Prabowo-Gibran administration and wants the government to perform better than the previous administration.

Botok added that AMPB would not object if other groups participating in the demonstration brought different demands.

“However, we are only focusing on these two demands. If there are other demands, they do not represent AMPB,” he said.

Several AMPB representatives began arriving in Jakarta on Saturday, August 22, to prepare for Thursday’s protest.

Organizer Says Bank Account Was Blocked

After arriving in the capital, AMPB members said they had faced several forms of intimidation. One of the incidents involved the blocking of Botok’s bank account, which had been used to collect public donations for the protest.

The account, which held Rp80 million, was blocked without a clear explanation, according to the group. Bank Mandiri said the blocking was carried out at the request of law enforcement authorities.

The move drew strong criticism from a civil society coalition.

Muhammad Isnur, a representative of the coalition, said any bank-account blocking must comply with applicable legal procedures.

He cited Article 140 of Law No. 20 of 2025 on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), which stipulates that account blocking is a coercive measure requiring authorization from the head of a district court.

“A request from law enforcement authorities alone is not sufficient to establish that the account blocking complied with legal requirements,” Isnur said.
