TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The news of the cancellation of a 50 percent discount on electricity tariffs for June-July 2025 has attracted public attention. The Indonesian government has decided to replace the discount with additional wage subsidy assistance (BSU) for workers with a maximum salary of Rp3.5 million per month or equivalent to the provincial/district/city minimum wage (UMP/UMK), as well as honorary teachers, from the previous Rp150,000 per month to Rp300,000 per month.
"We have held meetings among the ministers. As for implementing the electricity discount, the budgeting process is much slower than expected. Therefore, if the goal is to implement it in June and July, it cannot be done," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati in a press conference after a limited meeting related to economic stimulus at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday, June 2, 2025.
