TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A naval base of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Gilan Province, northern Iran, was confirmed to have been targeted by the United States on Friday morning.
"This morning, an IRGC naval forces headquarters in Zibakenar was targeted by American enemy projectiles, which damaged some of the equipment in the complex," said Ali Bagheri, a security official in Gilan, as quoted by IRNA news agency, citing ANTARA.
He said that local authorities will investigate the attack and added that there were no casualties in the U.S. strike.
On June 18, 2026, Tehran and Washington signed a peace memorandum to end the conflict that had erupted since February 28. However, U.S. forces launched attacks on Iran again starting July 8.
U.S. Central Command said the attacks were in retaliation for Iran's actions against merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian forces responded to the U.S. attack by launching retaliatory attacks on U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
President Trump later said that the ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran was no longer valid.
