TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) National Team Board, Sumardji, said that the U-23 Indonesia national team squad will depart for Thailand to face the 2025 SEA Games on Friday morning, November 28, 2025. The team under Indra Sjafri's guidance held its final training at Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, two days before departure.
Sumardji stated that the players will depart first. "The first batch of players will depart on Friday, November 28, at 8 AM. Meanwhile, the officials will depart a bit later because they cannot travel on the same plane," said Sumardji, accompanying the young Garuda team during training at Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
According to him, the players and officials will meet directly in Chiang Mai, Thailand's second-largest city. The PSSI has also sent several teams to visit the city where the young Garuda players will live.
"This team will prepare everything related to readiness and preparation there, starting from the accommodation, the type of hotel, and so on," Sumardji explained.
The manager of the senior Indonesian national team explained that the PSSI will register 23 players, including several who play overseas, for the 2025 SEA Games. "Later, by God's will, from here approximately 19 (players), but for sure PSSI will release those names, depending on how Coach Indra conveys it to BTN," he said.
Sumardji explained that PSSI will release the list of 23 U-23 Indonesia national team players who will compete in the 2025 SEA Games after receiving the list from coach Indra Sjafri. Later, he said, it will be announced on the official PSSI website. "By November 30, all players will have joined in Thailand," he said.
The U-23 Indonesian national team will arrive in Thailand as the defending champion in the 2025 SEA Games. In the multi-event championship two years ago, Indra Sjafri successfully led the Merah Putih team to win the gold medal for the first time since becoming the champion in this event 32 years ago. Garuda secured the victory by defeating Thailand 5-2 in a 120-minute final match.
