TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the country's trade balance recorded a surplus of US$19.48 billion from January to June 2025. The United States contributed the largest share to this surplus.
According to BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Pudji Ismartini, three countries played a major role in Indonesia’s trade surplus.
"The top three surplus contributors are the United States with US$8.57 billion, followed by India with US$6.59 billion, and the Philippines with US$4.40 billion," Pudji said during a BPS press conference on Friday, August 1.
The trade surplus from the United States increased significantly from the same period in 2024, when it reached US$6.45 billion. The US also ranks as Indonesia’s second-largest non-oil and gas export destination after China.
Although the value of non-oil and gas exports to the US declined in June, it remains higher than the previous year.
"Non-oil and gas exports to the US in June 2025 decreased by 2.05 percent compared to May 2025, but rose by 33.49 percent compared to June 2024," Pudji said.
BPS also listed Indonesia’s top 10 export products to the United States. These include:
Electrical machinery and equipment and parts (HS85)
Footwear (HS64)
Knitted clothing and accessories (HS61)
Non-knitted clothing and accessories (HS62)
Animal or vegetable fats and oils (HS15)
Rubber and rubber products (HS40)
Furniture, lighting, and signage (HS94)
Fish, crustaceans, and mollusks (HS03)
Machinery and mechanical appliances and parts (HS84)
Various chemical products (HS38)
