TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the West Sumatra Regional Police has successfully identified 20 out of 22 victims of the recent flood and landslide disasters. The search is still ongoing for 10 people reported missing amid the chaos.
As of 11:00 p.m. local time on Thursday night, November 27, 2025, the identified bodies consist of 9 females and 11 males.
"There is one female and one male victim who have not been identified yet," stated Senior Commissioner Sri Handayani, Chief of the Medical and Health Division of the West Sumatra Regional Police, in a written statement late Thursday.
The identification process is being conducted at various posts, with officers deployed at the Padang City Police Resort, Bhayangkara Hospital Padang, Dr. Rasidin General Hospital Padang, Bukittinggi Police Resort, Padang Pariaman, and West Pasaman.
Victim Details by Location
Padang City Police Resort Area: Two bodies were immediately taken by their families at the scene. They were identified through secondary data as Najwa Putri Andira (2.5 months old) and Mardalena (65 years old), both residents of the Koto Panjang/ABI Complex.
Bhayangkara Hospital Padang: The DVI post received eight bodies and successfully identified six victims through fingerprinting: Yerna Wilis (57), Selvi Marta Putri (20), Agung Purnomo (35), Reki Saputra (38), Robby Handaryo (41), and Junimar (52).
Dr. Rasidin General Hospital Padang: Three bodies were identified based on family information. All were residents of Lumin Park Lubuk Minturun: Roni Syaputra (42), Syamsul Kamaruddin (72), and Aidil Putra (13).
Missing Persons and Additional Casualties
A report from the Bukittinggi Police Resort detailed eight deceased victims and nine missing persons, all from Jorong Toboh, Malalak Timur, Agam Regency. The deceased were identified through secondary data as: Azmal (50), Jasmawati (60), Herman (65), Yusmaniar (66), Azir (36), Marnis (60), Gina (23), and Diman (75).
The nine people still missing in Agam Regency are: Salma (52), Mirzal (58), En (6), Qilla (8), Adnan (1), Adi (45), Yar (45), Mohammad Daud (35), and Joni Candra (32). The majority are also residents of Jorong Toboh.
Flash floods struck the Pasar Baru area of Padang, West Sumatra, on November 28, 2025. The flooding was significantly amplified following the breach of the Nago Mountain dam in Pauh. Separately, in Padang Pariaman, one person is reported missing: Evi Yulia Susanti (52) from Ganting Koto Buruk, Lubuk Alung. Meanwhile, in West Pasaman, officers identified one deceased victim: Roki Hidayat (13), a student from Jorong Silayang, Batahan Tengah.
Sri Handayani confirmed that the police, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) continue to optimize the identification process and the search for the 10 people still missing, stating the goal is "To provide certainty to the families of the victims."
