TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister Saifullah Yusuf said students in Sekolah Rakyat, or People's School, will receive complete learning facilities, with each of them given a laptop as one of the learning mediums.
Saifullah mentioned that the facilities are provided in line with the use of digital whiteboards in every classroom in Sekolah Rakyat across Indonesia.
"Each student will receive a laptop as a learning medium, as part of the learning management system (LMS)," said the Minister of Social Affairs during school orientation (MPLS) as monitored through the Ministry of Social Affairs' YouTube channel on Monday, July 14, 2025.
The minister explained that digital-based learning will make it easier for teachers and educational staff to manage the teaching and learning process. He said that Sekolah Rakyat will have a baseline mapping that includes physical fitness and the students' health conditions.
He mentioned that the data will later be processed using artificial intelligence (AI). "Earlier, I mentioned that there is already DNA-based talent mapping using AI. Academic competencies include attitudes, skills, and knowledge," he explained.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Chair of the Public School Formation Team, Mohammad Nuh, explained that AI-based mapping for student potential aims to ensure targeted learning that caters to the children's characteristics.
He also stated that AI-based mapping can increase children's potential by up to 744 percent, according to research from the University of Nebraska, United States.
"Through this AI-based potential mapping, we can identify who is a genius and in what field. So, later, the students will be identified from the get-go, as well as their teachers," he said in a meeting at the Ministry of Social Affairs office, Salemba, Central Jakarta.
The first phase of President Prabowo Subianto's Sekolah Rakyat is attended by a total of 6,000 students with 256 study groups from elementary, junior high, and high school levels. Out of the 100 targets that will be operational this year, 63 schools have been inaugurated, while the remaining 37 will follow by the end of the month.
