Government Response and Emergency Declaration

The floods and landslides hit North Sumatra Province on November 24, 2025. Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution, announced that the Provincial Government is expediting the restoration of electricity and communication networks, which were disrupted due to substation damage. The Governor made this announcement while inspecting the disaster site in Central Tapanuli.

Bobby stated that the regional government is currently gathering data on urgent needs such as clean water, LPG, and supplies for children and women. Essential food supplies are continually being provided to ensure that aid is distributed appropriately and swiftly.

"Today, we will inspect several other disaster sites in the Tapteng region and the city of Sibolga," Bobby noted in a written statement released on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

To manage the extensive recovery, Governor Bobby has declared a state of emergency through North Sumatra Governor's Decree Number 188.44/836/KPTS/2025. This declaration is effective for 14 days, from November 27 to December 10, 2025.
