TEMPO.COJakarta - The explosion incident at State Senior High School, or SMAN 72, in North Jakarta continues to traumatize the school's students as some of them were reportedly considering transferring to another school.

However, the head of SMAN 72 North Jakarta, Tetty Helena Tampubolon, denied reports that students were planning a mass transfer. "None [of the students resigning]," Tetty stated on Friday, November 29, 2025.

According to Tetty, there was initially one student who was a victim of the explosion and wanted to transfer. This student initially planned to move to a school closer to home due to their ongoing physical recovery from injuries.

The student later decided to finish their studies at SMAN 72 North Jakarta. "So I'm confused why this is buzzing in the media, because there has never been a student who resigned," Tetty said.

Tetty, however, confirmed that she has received numerous requests from parents urging the immediate expulsion of the explosion's perpetrator. "I am not afraid to dismiss the student, but there are procedures for it," Tetty noted.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung had previously stated that many SMAN 72 students requested transfers following the incident. "Apparently, the impact is beyond my expectations. Many students then requested to transfer schools," Pramono said on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

The explosion, which occurred on the afternoon of Friday, November 7, 2025, injured at least 96 people. Investigation results revealed the perpetrator was a student who reportedly felt lonely and lacked a space to express his grievances.

Nabiila Azzahra and Dede Leni Mardianti also contributed to the report.
