ICE Arrests Indonesian Man With Criminal Records in Los Angeles

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesian national named Chrissahdah Tooy was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a targeted operation in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, June 7. His arrest was announced via the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) official X account on Monday, June 9.

"On June 7, 2025, ICE Los Angeles administratively arrested Chrissahdah TOOY, 48, a citizen of Indonesia. TOOY has a criminal history that includes convictions for Narcotics, Driving Under the Influence, and Illegal Entry," the post says.

In a press statement issued on June 8, Homeland Security said it was providing additional information about undocumented immigrants detained during the ICE enforcement sweep in Los Angeles.

In the release, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized local officials, accusing them of siding with criminals.

"Why do Governor Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass care more about violent murderers and sex offenders than they do about protecting their own citizens?" she said. "These rioters in Los Angeles are fighting to keep rapists, murderers, and other violent criminals loose on Los Angeles streets. Instead of rioting, they should be thanking ICE officers every single day who wake up and make our communities safer."

Others arrested by ICE include:

- Cuong Chanh Phan (Vietnam)
- Rolando Veneracion-Enriquez (Philippines)
- Lionel Sanchez-Laguna (Mexico)
- Armando Ordaz (Mexico)
- Francisco Sanchez-Arguello (Mexico)
- Jose Gregorio Medranda Ortiz (Ecuador)
- Victor Mendoza-Aguilar (Mexico)
- Delfino Aguilar-Martinez (Mexico)
- Jose Cristobal Hernandez-Buitron (Peru)
- Jordan Mauricio Meza-Esquibel (Honduras)
- Jesus Alan Hernandez-Morales (Mexico)

National Guard Deployed, Trump Wants Mask Wearers Arrested

Tensions in Los Angeles continue to escalate. On Sunday, June 8, President Donald Trump deployed the California National Guard to the streets to clamp down on the protests that had turned into riots.

As the unrest grew, Trump ordered law enforcement to arrest demonstrators wearing masks. "ARREST THE PEOPLE IN FACE MASKS, NOW," he posted on his Truth Social account.

Trump praised the National Guard, a military reserve force that operates under the authority of the state governor, for its three-day presence during the violence and upheaval following ICE's arrests of undocumented immigrants.
