TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Approximately 94 percent of gas stations across Indonesia have already distributed B50 biodiesel, according to the New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation DG at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Eniya Listiani Dewi.
Citing data from the country's oil and gas trading giant Pertamina Patra Niaga, Eniya said on Tuesday, "As many as 6,050 locations have started distributing B50, while 360 others remain in a transitional period."
Of the total 104 delivery terminals, 76 have distributed B50, while 28 are still in the transition from B40 to B50.
Meanwhile, biodiesel distribution had reached 10.69 million kiloliters as of September 2026. From January to June, B40 distribution reached 7.27 million kiloliters. Meanwhile, B50 distribution, which began in early July, has reached 3.42 million kiloliters.
The availability of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), the ingredient for the B50 blend, is targeted to reach 16.8 million to 18 million kiloliters throughout this year.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has granted a transition period from B40 to B50 until September 30, 2026. Currently, Eniya said, B50 trials are underway for trains. "For other sectors, the automotive, machine tools and agriculture, heavy mining equipment, sea transportation, and power generation or generator sets have been completed," she said.
Pertamina Patra Niaga President Director Mars Ega Legowo Putra added that of the 121 fuel terminals, 120 are already distributing B50. However, one Pertamina fuel terminal, the Sintang Terminal, has yet to distribute B50.
Mars Ega stated that the Sintang Terminal is facing challenges due to weather conditions. "This is due to weather factors. We are still having difficulty accessing the river channel at the Sintang Terminal due to the dry season, which has caused some rivers to shrink," he said.
