Dr. Ashley Kafka, played by Marton Csokas, is a major departure from the comic-book character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). Instead of the female psychiatrist who becomes an ally to Spider-Man, the film presents Kafka as a male German scientist who experiments on Electro.
The portrayal was criticized for bearing little resemblance to the character's comic-book counterpart.
