TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Six years after his defeat by Taiwanese badminton player Chou Tien Chen in the final of the Indonesia Open 2019, Anders Antonsen finally avenged that loss by winning the title at the Indonesia Open 2025.

Antonsen defeated Chou Tien Chen with a score of 22-20, 21-14 in the final match held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, June 8, 2025. With this victory, Anders Antonsen successfully claimed the championship title for 2025.

This triumph marked a moment of redemption for Antonsen following his two previous defeats in the Indonesia Open finals in 2019 and 2024. He lost to Chou Tien Chen in the 2019 final and to Chinese badminton player Shi Yu Qi in the 2024 final.

According to the BWF website, Anders Antonsen was born in Aarhus on April 27, 1997. He is a Danish badminton player who began pursuing his career in 2003 and made his international debut at the Forza Denmark International in 2013. Antonsen became a member of the Danish national team in 2008.

Throughout his career, Antonsen has consistently delivered impressive performances on the international badminton stage. He is currently ranked 3rd in the BWF men’s singles world rankings and has recorded a total of 334 career victories. At 28 years old, he remains a vital player for the Danish national team and a formidable presence in top-tier tournaments around the world.

Antonsen has reached several key milestones in his career, including winning the Indonesia Masters and earning a silver medal at the World Championships. His achievements have also earned him notable recognition, such as the Comet of the Year award in 2014 from Badminton Denmark and the Player of the Year title in Denmark in 2019.

In 2022, he secured a silver medal at the European Championships after a loss to Viktor Axelsen. In 2023, he began to regain momentum, participating in the Malaysia Open and advancing to the semifinals in both the Singapore Open and the All England.

That year, he also earned a bronze medal at the World Championships in Copenhagen and reached the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Finals.

Antonsen’s performance in 2024 was particularly impressive, as he captured four championship titles: the Indonesia Masters, European Championships, Denmark Open, and China Masters. He also finished as the runner-up in the BWF World Tour Finals after being defeated by Shi Yu Qi in the final. In 2025, Anders Antonsen crowned his efforts by winning the Indonesia Open title.
